Who can apply?

There are conditions that the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages must consider when granting access to certificates under Part 8 Division 4 of the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act 1998.

In Western Australia, Birth Certificates are available to:

  • the person named in the certificate (16 years of age or over)
  • either parent (named in the certificate)
  • legal guardian (proof of guardianship required)
